HEALTH RESOURCES - Massage Therapists
Acupuncturists  |  Chiropractors  |  Massage Therapists
Massage Therapists: In 2004, there were 4,734 licensed massage therapists practicing in Hawai'i, or 3.7 massage therapists per 1,000 residents. Since 1990, the number of massage therapists per capita has tripled statewide. Again, the highest ratio was in Maui County (7.5 per 1,000 residents), and the lowest was in Honolulu (2.8 per 1,000 residents).

Native Hawaiian Health Practitioners: Traditional Hawaiian healing practices are performed by Native Hawaiian health practitioners. Under section 453-2(c) of the Hawai'i Revised Statutes, these practitioners are exempt from state licensure. Therefore, reliable statistics regarding their numbers and distribution are not available.
