| Maternity and newborn services together
consistently account for more than one-fourth of all hospitalizations
statewide. After decreasing for many years, maternity
and newborn discharges increased approximately 11 percent
between 2001 and 2006. However, relative to the total population (hospitalizations per 1,000 population), maternity and newborn hospitalizations decreased 5 percent between 1995 and 2006. |
