- For individuals aged 15 to 44 the
top reasons for hospitalization are associated with
pregnancy and delivery, followed by psychiatry (mental
illness and substance abuse).
- Depression or schizophrenia is
a top-five condition for four different age groups:
ages 15 to 24, 25 to 34, 35 to 44, and 45 to 54.
- For all age groups 45 and older,
cardiology is a top reason for hospitalization.
- Pneumonia is common to both young
(ages 1-14) and old (ages 65 and older) and is among
the top three reasons for hospitalization.
