Hospitalization rates based on county of residence vary
with Kaua'i County's rates being the highest in the state
(109 per 1,000 population) and Honolulu County's rate
the lowest (87 per 1,000 population). Between 1995 and
2008, the rate of hospitalization stayed the same in Maui County
and Kauai County, while it decreased in Hawai'i County (4 percent
decrease)and Honolulu County (1 percent decrease). Hawai'i's hospitalization rate of 90 discharges
per 1,000 population in 2008 was well below the U.S. rate
of 131. |
