Between 1990 and 2006, growth was greatest in Maui County (41 percent) and Hawai'i County (42 percent). Kaua'i County's 23 percent growth over the same period outpaced Honolulu's 9 percent. Over the same period, Honolulu's share of the state's total population declined from 75 percent to 71 percent.
