The counties show marked differences in their ethnic composition.
The proportion that is mixed is consistent across all
counties, at 16 to 20 percent in 2005. Hawai‘i has the
largest proportion of Hawaiians/part-Hawaiians at 27 percent.
Honolulu has the largest proportion of Japanese (19 percent),
Mixed (19 percent), and Chinese (4 percent). Kaua‘i and
Maui have the largest proportion of Filipinos (15 percent),
and Maui and Hawai'i have the largest proportion of Caucasians
(34 percent).
