Birth rates in all counties have declined from 1980 to
2006. The largest decrease was in Hawai'i and Kaua'i,
with decreases of 34.4 percent and 32.9 percent, respectively.
Maui experienced a 23.3 percent decrease in its birth
rate while Honolulu's birth rate declined the least, at
18.5 percent, due in part to its larger military population.
